How we handle your information

Privacy notice

What PLEA Foundation collects through this website, why, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Last updated: 25 August 2026. This notice explains what Pristine Life Enhancement and Advancement Foundation (PLEA Foundation) does with personal information collected through this website. It is written to meet the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the NDPC General Application and Implementation Directive 2025.

Who is responsible

PLEA Foundation, Plot 12 Timothy Lane, Rumuola, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Registered under CAC/IT/NO 85980. For any question about this notice or your information, email info@pleafoundation.org or call +234 803 203 3792.

Visit counting, and why there is no cookie banner

We count page visits so we can see which of our work people are reading. We do this on our own servers and we do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service.

We do not store your IP address. To estimate how many separate people visited without identifying anyone, your IP address and browser description are combined with a secret value that is regenerated every day and turned into a one-way code. The code cannot be reversed, and because the secret changes daily it cannot be used to follow you from one day to the next.

We set no advertising or tracking cookies, and we load no third-party tracking scripts. That is why this site does not ask you to accept cookies.

If you close our invitation to join the PLEA community, your browser remembers that so we do not ask you again for a month. That note is stored in your own browser, contains nothing about you, and is never sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it.

When you contact us or express interest in partnering

If you use the contact form or the partnership form, we collect the details you type: your name, email address, any organisation you name, and your message, together with the date you gave your agreement and the version of this notice you agreed to. We use this only to reply to you and to keep a record that you asked us to.

The PLEA community mailing list

If you join our community list, we collect your name and email address, and optionally whether you represent an organisation. We will only add you after you confirm through a link we email you. We use the list to share news of our outreaches, events and opportunities to partner. We do not sell or rent it, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. You can leave at any time and we will stop immediately.

Beneficiary photographs, stories and video

We publish a person's photograph, name, story or video only where we hold a specific consent to do so. We treat medical records and receipts as confidential and never publish them. Where a story concerns a child or a person's health, we apply additional care and will withdraw material on request.

Embedded social media

Where we show a post from Instagram, Facebook or YouTube, the image is stored on our own servers rather than loaded from theirs, so simply viewing the page shares nothing with those companies. If you press play on a video, playback then loads from YouTube's no-cookie service and their terms apply from that point.

How long we keep things

Enquiries and contact messages are kept for up to three years so we can maintain a record of our correspondence. Mailing-list entries are kept until you unsubscribe. Visit counts are kept as daily totals with no individual records retained.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you may ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw a consent you gave. Write to info@pleafoundation.org and we will respond within one month.

If you believe we have handled your information wrongly, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
